| Drugs used for Missouri executions are questioned |

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The state of Missouri has found itself in the midst of controversy when it comes to drugs used for executions. 32 states, including the Show-Me-State, currently allow the death penalty. With an execution scheduled for September 10th, a new report suggests that the Department of Corrections has used a drug that has resulted in botched executions in other states. The Missouri Department of Corrections has denied the claim. The controversy arises over the use of a drug called Midazolam, typically used as a sedative. That drug can cause the individual to experience a longer and drawn out death, or complications such as a heart attack. Read More. |
