Alabama prison officials and police agencies in Etowah County are looking for a Gadsden man who escaped from the Elmore Correctional Center last Monday afternoon in a white state vehicle. Alabama prisons spokesman Brian Corbett identified the inmate as 32-year-old Robert Wayne Miller. He was serving a 25-year sentence for various property-related crimes. Corbett said Miller was working in a garage, located outside prison grounds, when he stole an unmarked 1996 Crown Victoria about 1 p.m. The car was found burned on a rural Etowah County road at about 5 p.m. Miller is a white male, six feet tall, 147 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white prison uniform. Law enforcement agencies in Fort Payne were also alerted because Miller has relatives in the area. |
