A corrections officer at the Hernando County (Fla.) Jail was arrested last Tuesday evening when he was accused of raping a 17-year-old female inmate.
Louis C. Gregory, 38, was arrested in connection to the incident around 3 p.m. last Tuesday. He faces two counts of sexual battery.
Cathie Sullivan, spokeswoman for the Hernando County Jail, said Gregory was being released from the Hernando County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
"He also has resigned his position," Sullivan said.
According to an affidavit, the 17-year-old girl was incarcerated at the Hernando County Jail, pending charges.
During the stay, she was required to take a shower in a private area because she was a juvenile, the report said.
In the last week of October, the girl was getting out of the shower and was approached by Gregory. Gregory, a corrections officer with Corrections Corporation of America, was in charge of distributing and collecting disposable razors for inmates to shave with.
According to the affidavit, Gregory backed the girl against a sink and violated her.
He then left the area and continued his rounds, investigators said.
On a second occasion, during the first week of November, he backed the girl against a sink a second time and once again violated her.
When detectives spoke to Gregory, he admitted to sexually assaulting the 17-year-old girl. Detectives also said his statement matched the statement provided by the 17-year-old girl.
At the time of each attack, he was serving as a corrections officer at the jail, detectives said.
