| Inmate dies in Aroostook County Jail |

HOULTON, Maine - A 48-year-old male inmate at Aroostook County Jail was found hanging in the shower area of his assigned dorm by corrections officers at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, according to a Sept. 9 press release from the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office. The inmate was alone in the shower area at the time, according to the press release. Corrections officers worked to revive him. He was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he died on Sunday evening. Read More. |
