ATTICA — Correction officers, public officials, survivors and families of staff members that were killed in the Attica Prison riot will remember the 43rd anniversary of the end of the nation’s deadliest prison riot on Saturday, Sept. 13. Members of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, the union that represents corrections officers at Attica Correctional Facility, will participate in the remembrance that recognizes the 11 officers and civilians who were killed during the five day riot. The Attica Honor Guard will post at the monument in front of the prison wall that recognizes the sacrifice those 11 employees made in 1971. The Honor Guard will post at the monument from sunrise to sundown on Saturday.
