About 60 female inmates from Hawaii have been moved from the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McCloud, Okla., to a private prison in Colorado. Hawaii officials say the women were not receiving drug treatment programs and other services the state was paying the state of Oklahoma to provide. Hawaii paid $1.3-million to Oklahoma to house the inmates and provide the services. Officials in Hawaii have not tried to recover any of the money and say there was no gross neglect of the inmates. |
