| TDOC no longer ‘supervising’ dead felons |

The Tennessee Department of Correction doesn’t appear to be “supervising” dead felons anymore. A state audit released on Wednesday followed up on a host of problems identified at the agency over the past two years, including the discovery in 2012 that at least 82 dead ex-inmates were being actively supervised by parole officers. The audit found that the agency has fixed a good number of the problems identified, but still has work to do. “We’ve made significant progress while continuing to supervise offenders and not compromise public safety,” said TDOC spokeswoman Neysa Taylor. “Some of the systems the department has put in place take time to demonstrate significant results but we are pleased with the amount of progress the department has made and continues to make.” Read More. |
