| Harris County killer captured after escaping from Panhandle prison |

AMARILLO - A Salvadoran immigrant convicted in a Harris County murder was recaptured Monday about eight hours after he escaped a prison in Amarillo by scaling a fence, authorities said. Marvin Garcia, 34, was apprehended after searchers in a plane saw someone jump from a northbound freight train that had slowed, Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark said. Local lawmen and state troopers with the Department of Public Safety converged on the area north of Amarillo, near the Canadian River and U.S. 287, and took Garcia into custody. Read More. |
