Inmate suing for being placed near prisoner he killed |

A black inmate who killed a white prisoner in a jailyard fight is suing New Hampshire corrections officials, saying they didn't keep him safe behind bars. James Skinner was acquitted of murder charges in the death of white supremacist Eric Balagot in 1998. He maintains he was housed near Balagot, even after a corrections official told colleagues they should not have put the two inmates together. The state argues that none of the four officials being sued assigned the inmates to the same cell block, and no one could have predicted they would clash. |
