| Consultant selected to help county plan new detention center |

Slate Architecture of Helena was selected by the Lewis and Clark County Commission on Thursday to help lead the county through the process of proposing a new detention center to voters in 2015. The $144,310 contract went to Slate Architecture after a subcommittee of the county’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee interviewed all five architectural firms that responded when asked if they were interested in the project. The committee felt that Slate Architecture and its partnering firm, Goldberg Group Architects of St. Joseph, Missouri, were the best fit, Kyle Thomas, the county’s assistant director of public works told the commission before it voted to accept the recommendation.
