Police say they recaptured a 23-year-old inmate Monday afternoon in Weathersfield, eight hours after he cut through a fence and escaped from the Southeast State Correctional Facility in Windsor. Anthony Fitzgerald was serving a sentence of 3½ to 10 years for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor, according to Lisa Menard, deputy commissioner for the state Corrections Department. Vermont State Police Capt. Ray Keefe said Fitzgerald was spotted walking on Trasher Road in Weathersfield by two people working in a farm field.
