George Wickson, 41, will spend nine days in jail and receive a one-year suspended sentence as part of a plea agreement in Rockingham Superior Court. He is prohibited from serving as police officer in New Hampshire, Judge Marguerite Wageling said. Wickson will be sentenced Nov. 25. "I will be happy to be accept your plea agreement," Wageling told Wickson. Facing the possibility of having his bail revoked, the suspended 14-year department veteran admitted in court that he threatened a man with a knife and violated his bail conditions. Those bail conditions included not carrying a firearm. Wickson showed at up at the funeral of police Chief Stephen Savage on July 15 in full uniform, his service revolver at his side. Wickson, dressed in a dark suit, said little in court Tuesday other than "yes" to the judge's questions and "guilty" to the charges. Wickson and his attorney, Brian Lavallee, declined to comment after the hearing. As part of the agreement, Wickson was not prosecuted on a felony criminal threatening charge and three misdemeanor simple assault charges. Read More. |
