FOX23 went to the state penitentiary Thursday to see the changes made to the execution chambers after the controversial death on an inmate earlier this year.

The five-page list of new medical supplies and expenses for the chamber include $11,500 for metal doors and frames, $8,800 for new lighting fixtures and $12,500 for a new surgical table.

Department of Corrections officials said the changes will prevent some of the problems they had with the execution of Clayton Lockett.

The operation room was expanded by 3 feet, which caused the execution chamber itself to shrink by the same amount. Because of that officials had to put in smaller viewing windows and cut down the number of witnesses from 25 to 19 and media witnesses from 12 to five.

The operations room contains an addition that officials said could have avoided the entire problem in the Lockett execution.
