| Sullivan County inmate stops breathing, dies at hospital |

An inmate at the Sullivan County Correctional Facility stopped breathing and died at a local hospital Saturday. Leslie Earhart, public information officer for the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, told News 5 that corrections officers were alerted around 3:45 p.m. that an inmate had stopped breathing. Officers and medical staff began CPR on the inmate, identified as 55-year-old Gregory Darnell, until Sullivan County EMS arrived. Darnell was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center where he later died. The inmate reported to the correctional facility around 7 a.m. Saturday morning to begin serving his time on a DUI conviction. Read More. |
