A gang member is serving nine months in jail after hitting a corrections officer during a fight in the Grant County Jail. A Grant County jury convicted Marcos Avalos-Barrera, a 24-year-old man, in September of custodial assault and assault in the fourth. Avalos-Barrera has previous felony convictions for:
Two corrections officers were escorting an inmate to the visitor’s area on May 7 while Avalos-Barrera was walking around the lower floor of the dorm.
