| Officials told PBA president Union County plans to shutter its jail |

The president of the state Policemen’s Benevolent Association said he’s been told that Union County will close it’s jail and send prisoners to the Hudson County facility. “People I’ve spoken to have absolutely said it’s going to shut down,” state PBA President Patrick Colligan said at the freeholders meeting last Thursday. “Everybody that should be in the know has said it will close.” County leaders have remained mum on the possible closing of the jail, other than to confirm they have been in discussions with Hudson County officials.
