| Lucas County begins pitch for new jail Commissioners to present forums, pick appropriate site |

With a feasibility study that says a new 620-bed jail should be built, the Lucas County commissioners said they are ready to present the recommendations and report to the community and work on selecting an appropriate location to build it. The findings of the consultants’ report, including the analysis that estimates a $142 million construction cost, were detailed on Tuesday during a special meeting of the county commissioners. Judges, elected officials, and administrators from suburban cities, as well as deputies and corrections officers who work in the jail, packed the commissioners’ hearing room for the presentation.
