| Jail is nearing limit on inmates |

AUSTIN, Minn. – A local jail is nearing the amount of inmates they are allowed to hold, so area leaders are discussing their options. The Mower County Jail has a capacity of 126, but with the amount of staff they have, they are only licensed for 88 by the state department of corrections. While the average has been under that number the past few months, leaders say they have neared their capacity a couple of times. If their average number of inmates gets above the allowed amount consistently, they will need to hire more jailers. Read More. |
