Members of the Ionia Rotary Club carried on an annual tradition Wednesday night by honoring an individual from each of the county's five corrections facilities, selected by their colleagues and supervisors. Ionia is one of the few communities in the state that has such an event, Deputy Warden Nanette Norwood of Ionia Correctional Facility told attendees. Rotary has hosted its "Correction Officer of the Year Celebration" for more than two decades. "It's a wonderful opportunity to recognize a large part of the community and the state of Michigan," Rotary President Paul Lentz said after a dinner held at Steele Street Hall. Read More. |
