| Prisoner still in 'critical condition' after Friday morning crash |

A state prisoner was still in critical condition on Saturday for life-threatening injuries sustained on Friday after a tractor-trailer hit the back of a prison van on Indiana 46, authorities said. The inmate suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, police said. The Vigo County Sheriff's Department would not release the inmate's name, for the "safety and security" of the inmates and the public, until back in a secure facility, according to Vigo County Chief Deputy Clark Cottom. However, the name of another prisoner who was injured in the crash was announced by police on Saturday. Joshua Stockwell, 21, has been released back into the custody of the Indiana Department of Corrections, Cottom said. Stockwell sustained injuries including a broken hip and pelvis, authorities said on Friday. Read More. |
