SPRINGFIELD — A class action lawsuit seeking to improve conditions for inmates at a southern Illinois prison could be settled early next year. U.S. Magistrate Philip Frazier signaled last week that attorneys for the two sides involved in the Vienna Correctional Center case are inching closer to an agreement on a settlement. "The parties must submit a preliminary draft of the joint proposed consent decree by Jan. 15, 2015," Frazier wrote in an order late last week. Read More. |
