| Convicted child molester says he fled prison van to escape a beating |

OCALA β A convicted child molester told police he was set up for a beating Monday in the back of a prison van. Edward Gary Rogalski, however, faces new charges of battery, obstruction and escape, according to an Ocala Police Department report. State corrections officer Paul Peck said Rogalski kicked him in the chest, grabbed his baton and ripped off part of his vest while trying to run away. Rogalski, 58, said Peck set him up to be beaten, according to the police report. The inmate said he was picked up from the Marion County Jail and was being transported to Charlotte Correctional Institution when the van stopped at a Burger King. Rogalski said Peck told the 11 other inmates traveling with them that Rogalski was a child molester and βto have fun with him.β Read More. |
