| Deadline approaching for NYS Correction Officer Trainee Exam |

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB)- Those interested in taking the Civil Service exam to become a NYS Correction Officer Trainee must have an application postmarked by November 25, 2014. The exam will be offered statewide on January 10, 2015. The Civil Service exam is available for both English and Spanish speaking applicants. Candidates must be citizens of both the U.S. and New York State, must have a high school diploma or GED, and have no previous felony convictions. The training will take place at the Albany Training Academy. Correction Officer Trainees earn $39,794 with an increase to $41,858 after six months.
