JOLIET – State Sen. Pat McGuire, D-Joliet, said Monday he hopes Republican governor-elect Bruce Rauner and his administration will make reopening the Illinois Youth Center in Joliet as a treatment center for mentally ill inmates a top priority. “I look forward to convincing him,” McGuire said. The $30 million needed in annual operating costs was not included in the state budget approved earlier this year by lawmakers. Read More. |
