| Man who attacked corrections officer going to prison |

A Milwaukee man who injured a corrections officer at the Fond du Lac County Jail is going to prison. Roy Whitelow, 35, was found guilty on one count of battery to law enforcement officers, as a repeater, following a jury trial on Nov. 11. Judge Peter Grimm sentenced Whitelow to four years in prison followed by one year extended supervision. Whitelow is also charged in connection with the heroin overdose death of a 27-year-old Fond du Lac woman. If convicted, Whitelow could face an additional 50 years in prison. According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement officers visited Whitelow at the Fond du Lac County Jail around 1 p.m. Feb. 14, 2013, to obtain a court-ordered DNA sample. While attempting to get the sample, Whitelow became aggressive and said, "you ain't getting nothing from me until I talk to my lawyer." A corrections officer tried to de-escalate the situation by telling Whitelow to stand near another wall, according to the complaint. Read More. |
