| Canine program brings smiles to WMCI inmates |

TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Having to take your dog outside at 2 a.m., into 7 below zero temperatures, is not something anyone likes to do. However, when your dog is special, you don’t mind the nearly block-long walk before you even get to the door, or the misery of standing in the wind while your dog, named Houdini, does his business. This situation is out of the norm, in more ways than one. Dog and keeper are enrolled in the canine training program at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution at Torrington. The inmate handler is a WMCI resident, and Houdini is the visitor, with his own sleeping quarters inside the inmate’s cell.
