A former Murray business man sentenced after check scheme probation. 39-year-old Rafael Mora had previously admitted to probation violations. Mora, who had been residing in Omaha recently, owned the meat locker and a restaurant in Murray. In May of 2012, Mora was convicted of two Class IV Felonies and two Class II Misdemeanors for writing four bad checks totaling over $20,000 to food companies in 2011 when he was starting the Don Rafael Restaurant in Murray. Mora was placed on probation for 60 months and ordered to pay $350 in restitution each month of the probation. According to the probation revocation filing obtained by the Cassgram, the defendant paid "only $1,210 in the two plus years he has been on probation, despite the fact he holds regular employment." The filing also said Mora missed three visits with the probation office, missed five drug tests and did not attend a financial management class as directed by the court. Read More. |
