A Nevada state prison inmate was being treated Thursday for internal bleeding while his cell mate was being held in segregation while officials investigate what happened, a spokesman said.
The inmate held at Lovelock Correctional Center told an officer at about 3 a.m. that he wasn't feeling well, said prison spokesman Fritz Schlottman. The officer saw the inmate was bleeding from his mouth and took him to the infirmary, he said.
The inmate's name was not released pending notification of his family, Schlottman said. The man was bleeding internally, Schlottman said, but his condition was not believed to be serious.
The man is serving a sentence for lewdness with a minor and sexual assault on a victim under 16, Schlottman said.
