A statewide Civil Service exam for state Correction Officer trainees will be offered on Jan. 10 by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. At the time of appointment, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, a state resident, at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED/HSE, and have no previous felony convictions. The hiring rate for a Correction Officer Trainee is $39,794 with an increase to $41,858 after six months.
