| Former inmate indicted on assault charge |

CATSKILL — State Police at Catskill and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision announced the arrest of Jamel Garris, 28, an inmate formerly at Coxsackie Correctional Facility, said State Police. Garris was arrested on a sealed indictment warrant from Greene County Court for two counts of assault in the second degree, a class D felony. The indictment stemmed from multiple assaults on Correctional Officers at Coxsackie Correctional on April 4, 2014. The Greene County District Attorney's office presented the case to the Grand Jury of Greene County and as a result, a sealed indictment was obtained, charging Garris with the two accounts of assault. Acting District Attorney Charles O. Bucca refused to comment on the currently pending case against Garris. Read More. |
