| Inmates work to bring Christmas cheer to needy families |

On Monday, “Santa’s workshop” was a large shed in the Missouri River Correctional Center. His “elves” were eight minimum-security inmates looking to brighten the holidays for less fortunate children. As the heater roared away, staving off the chill from outside, the inmates worked on fixing toys and bicycles as part of the 2014 Christmas Playpen project, a partnership between the Bismarck Tribune, the North Dakota Department of Corrections, The Salvation Army, Dan’s Supermarket, Go Mini’s Storage and Trans Trash. This year was the second for Officer Wendlin Rohrich, who supervises the inmates as they work helps with a few of the repairs from time to time. Read More. |
