A state facility for sexual offenders’ weak enforcement of sick leave rules is fueling more than $1 million in annual overtime costs, according to a new audit. The audit, released today, of the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center also found that wages paid to some residents were unreasonable and the state could save millions of dollars by cutting their pay below minimum wage. The Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center houses and treats adult male sex offenders, and with the Department of Human Services operates a Special Treatment Unit for civilly committed sexual offenders considered a danger to society.
