Gov. Rick Scott announced Wednesday the appointment of Julie Jones as secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections. Jones will replace Michael Crews, who retired in late November amid turmoil over inmate deaths and alleged corruption in Florida's prison system. Jones served as executive director at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles from 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, she spent 26 years at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission where she was a sworn officer and served in multiple roles including Director of Law Enforcement.
