A remand prisoner at Rimutaka Prison has escaped the custody of two Corrections officers after being taken to hospital. Wipei Awatere, 29, fled his minders at Hutt Hospital tonight. A Department of Corrections spokesman said Awatere told the officers he had swallowed razor blades. Read More. |
