| Inmate dies after attack at Salinas Valley State Prison |

Soledad, Calif. —State prison officials say an inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison has died after being attacked by four other inmates armed with handmade weapons. The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reports 39-year-old Barry Storey died Monday afternoon. A second inmate injured in the attack has been hospitalized. His condition has not been released. According to authorities, the attack took place at one of the prison's maximum security yards. Officers intervened using chemical agents and non-lethal weapons.
