An inmate who escaped from the Oahu Community Correctional Center yesterday has been caught by police.
The Hawaii Department of Public Safety says Michael Ventura was arrested today at the Kalihi home of his girlfriend.
The department says she and another person were also arrested for aiding and abetting.
The 25-year-old Ventura was taken to the hospital for treatment of wounds he suffered when he scaled a prison fence topped by razor wire.
Ventura fled the facility without his pants and boxer shorts, which became snagged in the wire.
A witness told police Ventura ran away from the prison with a brown paper bag or a brown piece of cardboard wrapped around his waist.
Ventura had served just six days of a 90-day sentence for third-degree assault, and had been scheduled to be released January 26th.
If convicted of escape, he could be sentenced to five years in prison.
