Former IYC inmate found guilty of battery

A former inmate of the Illinois Youth Center-Kewanee was found guilty Thursday of Class 2 felony aggravated battery of a peace officer.

Judge Richard Zimmer found Jaquameen White, 19, guilty of throwing urine on the guard through a ½ to 3/4-inch crack in the edge of the door. The guard was doing a quarter-hourly cell check. The incident happened at IYC on June 10. Sentencing was set for March 13.

Mr. White now is in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections. He also faces a new property damage charge in Henry County involving a towel in the jail on Jan. 2.
