Authorities say a mixture of wind and ice caused a van full of inmates to go off the road and flip over in Dickens County (Texas) Wednesday morning. It happened just after 7 a.m. on Farm to Market Road 836 near Spur. The driver was taking the inmates to Lubbock Federal Court when a sudden gust of wind came through the canyon and knocked the van off the road. The driver overcorrected, slid on the road and landed on its side. Jaws of life was used to free everyone from the wreckage. Six ambulances from Dickens and Crosby Counties took 12 people to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. |
