Montpelier — The number of Vermont prisoners incarcerated in Kentucky will drop to the lowest number in a decade, the corrections commissioner said Monday. By today, the Department of Corrections expects to have 360 inmates in the Kentucky facility it uses because of overcrowding in Vermont, and 40 inmates in Arizona, Commissioner Andy Pallito said. In December, Vermont had 426 prisoners in Kentucky and 36 in Arizona. Another bus trip from Kentucky to Vermont was scheduled for Tuesday. Read More. |
