| Heating problems force temporary transfer of 200 inmates |

The Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta, Hampshire County, is temporarily transferring its inmates to other regional jails while its heating system is repaired. About 200 inmates are currently housed at Potomac Highlands, smallest of the state's 10 regional jails. Officials with the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority said the needed repairs include purging system lines of liquid propane. The safety of staff and inmates during that process prompted the decision to relocate the facility's population, said the authority's executive director, Joe DeLong. Read More. |
