| Northumberland County prison project could be aided by more insurance money in wake of fire |

SUNBURY – The taxpayers of Northumberland County have gotten some good news in the wake of the devastating prison fire. An insurance adjustor said the Northumberland County Authority, which owns the 139-year-old prison, has $31 million insurance coverage on properties it owns and that money could be used, Commissioner Vinny Clausi said Tuesday. It previously was announced there was $9.3 million coverage on the building and another $1 million to cover expenses. How much of the $31 million might be available to either build a prison or rebuild the damaged one will not be known until depreciation is determined, Clausi said. Read More. |
