An inmate at the Valley View Conservation Camp in Elk Creek escaped on Monday and was caught in Redding less than 33 hours later. Joshua Alton Wortman 33, a minimum-security inmate from California Correctional Center, walked away from Valley View Conservation Camp, 3339 Road 307, at about 12:35 a.m. Camp staff reportedly last saw the minimum-security inmate running east from the camp boundaries, according to a press release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Wortman, formerly of Fall River Mills and serving a sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon, had been assigned to an inmate firefighting crew at the camp. Read More. |
