| County jail wins praise for changes |

Chippewa County’s jail received generally high marks in its annual inspection by the state that took place Dec. 9. Jail Capt. Ernan De La Rosa, who succeeded Art Crews on Oct. 27, received compliments from Brad Hompe, detention facilities specialist. Hompe said that De La Rosa has begun positive changes. In a Jan. 22 memo to members of the county’s Executive Committee, Chippewa County Administrator Frank Pascarella said the major item needed to be done is a jail staffing agreement between the county and the state Department of Corrections.
