Many turn back to a life of crime to fuel their drug addictions, putting the public's safety at risk soon after their release from prison. They call it the “revolving door” in prison. Career criminals who come and go and who are never really reformed. Officials with the Arizona Department of Corrections said many prisoners are taking advantage of a substance abuse treatment program offered to inmates who are nearing the end of their sentence. The intense treatment program has been drastically changing lives. It comes with a price tag for the tax-payer, though, at about $1.2 million a year, but state officials say it's money well spent.
