Shaheed F. Smith, 35, of Union Street, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, weapons offenses related to a Ford Explorer and conspiracy to commit assault with his co-defendant David M. Calder, and driving while intoxicated, the criminal complaint states. Smith appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City yesterday afternoon after posting $7,500 bail with a 10 percent cash option. Calder, 49, of Norcross, Ga., was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy with Smith to commit an assault while a passenger was in the Explorer and obstructing a government function, according to the criminal complaint.
