ST. LOUIS • Cornealious “Mike” Anderson, who made national news in May when he was released from a prison sentence that had been delayed for 13 years because of a clerical error, has been cleared of a November purse snatching. On Thursday, Circuit Attorney Jennifer M. Joyce announced that her office was dropping charges after an investigation revealed flaws in how police identified Anderson as their prime suspect. She said she was seeking the opportunity to personally apologize to Anderson and to learn more about what went wrong. She called the mistake “frustrating” and said she had talked with St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson about how police procedures can be strengthened. Read More. |
