| Assaults on guards among mounting troubles at Dartmouth jail |

Halifax police are investigating allegations that a Dartmouth jail guard was spat on and head-butted while two others were pepper-sprayed with their own equipment this week. In all, three injured Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility guards have gone to hospital for treatment since Sunday. None were admitted, but two needed time off. Halifax Regional Police have been called to the Burnside jail 17 times since Saturday. Seven of those occasions were for mischief or property damage and three incidents involved inmates assaulting other inmates, although none of them suffered serious injuries. Read More. |
