| Alabama prison system sticking with same company for inmate medical care |

The Alabama Department of Corrections is sticking with the same company to provide health care for inmates for two and a half more years. Corizon Inc., based in Brentwood, Tenn., will keep the contract through Sept. 30, 2017 under an extension discussed briefly by the Legislature's Contract Review Committee today. DOC is fighting a lawsuit filed by two groups representing inmates who claim that DOC's failure to provide adequate medical care, mental health care and accommodations for the disabled violates the constitution and federal law.
