Two jail escapees who remained at large Sunday night may have stolen a Taser gun when they slipped out of the Perry County Jail, state police said. Police said Michael Dunn, 38, and John McKinney, 25, hid in a cellblock shower and overpowered an officer making his rounds about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The jailer suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized. Dunn and McKinney used the officer's key to escape after locking him in a cell, said state police spokesman Sgt. Todd Ringle. The men separated when they left the jail. Authorities did not know if they reunited later. "There was no assistance from anybody on the outside; these two individuals worked together," Ringle said. Police said the men may have taken a Taser gun from the southwestern Indiana jail, which is about 40 miles east of Evansville. Dunn was in jail on a probation violation. McKinney was being held on a burglary charge. |
