| Sheriff defends actions that resulted in inmate’s paralysis |

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth on Wednesday defended a team of corrections officers involved in an incident which left an inmate paralyzed. Beth told the Judiciary and Law Committee that the team followed proper procedures in the incident involving Sean Bialas, saying the Correctional Emergency Response Team handled it calmly. “I was watching it, critiquing it,” Beth said of the results that were made available on DVD, following an independent investigation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department last week. “I was impressed by their calmness and how our staff handled it. I feel they followed the procedures appropriately.” According to the Racine County investigation, the man was injured during a struggle with officers trying to place him in a restraint chair.
